| Assault suspect identified
A 19-year-old Houston man has been identified as a suspect in the October sexual assault of a clerk at a Richmond bail bonding company.After releasing a sketch in early November and through further investigation and a photo line-up, the suspect was identified as William Grant Wilson, who has been indicted on aggravated robbery and aggravated sexual assault charges. He is currently being held in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges. The other suspect in the case is still at large, said Sgt. Lowell D. Neinast, public liaison of the Richmond Police Department.According to investigators, Wilson and an accomplice pulled a gun and demanded money from the clerk at Allied Bonding Agency, 610 S. Second St., at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15. When the suspects learned that there was no money in the business, they forced the employee to a back room where she was sexually assaulted, police said.This case continues under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective John Dawson at 281-342-2849.
Portus co-founder Michael Mendelson pleads guilty to one count of fraud
TORONTO - Michael Mendelson, co-founder of the defunct Portus Group hedge-fund operation, has pleaded guilty to one count of fraud and received a two-year sentence. Mendelson, 41, and Boaz Manor, were facing several counts of fraud, money laundering and possession of property obtained by crime. Manor has also been accused of obstruction of justice. At an Ontario Court of Justice hearing Monday, Mendelson was sentenced to two years. He agreed to co-operate with the investigation against Manor, who was released on $250,000 bail last week after returning to Canada from Israel. The RCMP allege Portus fraudulently used about $750 million from about 26,000 domestic investors "to operate the business in contrast to its disclosure and without investors' knowledge" between January 2003 and March 2005.

The owner, Eric Morse, told police that whoever burglarized the car wash did it at the perfect time since the cash machines had just been stocked. A $500 cash bond was set during Schmitz's initial court appearance on Friday, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec.
Fodder scam convict gets bail
New Delhi, Nov 19: The Supreme Court today granted bail to a multi-crore fodder scam convict who was sentenced to three years' imprisonment by a trial court in Jharkhand. Brajesh Kumar Sinha, a medicine supplier held guilty of cheating and forgery, was granted bail by a bench comprising Justices A K Mathur and Markandey Katju which considered his submission that he had already undergone imprisonment for one year. Sinha's counsel Brajesh Kumar said the bench should consider his bail plea as even the designated CBI court in Ranchi, while convicting him, had taken a lenient view that the accused was only 19 years old and had acted under the guidance of his elder family members who were directly associated with the business. The bench accepted the submission of Kumar and directed the convict to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 10,000 and a surety of equal amount.
Arrest made in Granada Hills shooting death
GRANADA HILLS - A 25-year-old unemployed man has been arrested in connection with the Sept. 15 death of 34-year-old Joseph Crisci. Ivan Servin was arrested at his home in Sylmar on Friday. He was being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on a murder charge with bail set at $1 million. Crisci was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head inside his undisturbed house in the 10500 block of Collett Avenue in Granada Hills by a 35-year-old friend, who is not a suspect in the case, police said. Police said the suspect was an acquiantance of the victim, but revealed few other details as they believe there may be others involved. Crisci was a Polytechnic High School graduate and former Marine. Man charged in quarter theft
A former carwash worker in Fond du Lac, Wis., was charged with stealing more than 71 pounds of quarters from the business' cash machines. Scott Schmitz was charged with burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and bail jumping after he allegedly broke into Buggy Bath Car Wash on Nov. 2 and stole $1,400 worth of quarters and $1,000 in bills from cash machines on the premises, the Fon du Lac Reporter said Monday. A Fond du Lac police report said Schmitz, a former Buggy Bath employee, was angry with the carwash's owner and had previously spoken about getting back at him. Police said they found two containers filled with more than $100 in quarters, multiple clear plastic bags, twist ties and a broken lock during searches of Schmitz's home and car.
